Compared Bi-Dir Scanner’s Hot Reset: Tested FCA Fun Use Case

We recently explored the TOPDON TopScan Lite, a versatile OBD2 scanner with bi-directional capabilities, and our focus shifted to its 8+ hot reset function, especially when connected to FCA vehicles. Setting up the Bluetooth-enabled tool on both iOS and Android was seamless, and the built-in repair guides proved handy. Testing the hot reset proved particularly intriguing; after running a diagnostic that triggered a P0300 (random/multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected) code on an FCA vehicle, we cleared it with the scanner and retested live. This back-and-forth between reading and reset demonstrated the scanner’s responsiveness, eliminating the need for multiple test drives. The integration of Car Code Reader and Performance Test functions added further value, making us appreciate its balance of simplicity and functionality. For FCA owners, the hot reset alone offers a practical edge in troubleshooting, blending convenience with efficiency.
